the transkei

released from the chains
my back turned against what keeps me down
the world is passing by

my soul is on hold

susceptible to the world

my beautiful sista martine and I decided a few weeks ago that the time had come to leave western cape and city life. we jumped on the plane to explore the hidden secrets of the eastern cape, and yes! - we found paradise in the transkei!

we spent most of our time in cintsa (buccaneers) and stunning bulungula - an eco-friendly fair trade lodge 2 hours 4x4 drive from (u)mthatha - absolute paradise! definitely the most beautiful place I have ever been to.

waking up at 3 am, looking out at moon and stars
the waves are breaking, the sea never sleeps
neither does the rooster
- his first wake up call starts around these times
he wakes me several times, but i re-enter the world of sleep
at 530 am the warm light of the sun stretches across the beach,
and touches the rondavels and the sleeping donkey outside
but - i make sure not to step in the donkey's poo
as i stretch my arms over my head
and walk into the dewy grass towards the beach
as the morning gets old

i wish all of you wonderful ones a peaceful christmas
and a perky new year 2009!

(ps - it makes me very happy if you leave comments when you visit my blog!)
