escape

*from african renaissance to a very handsome little man i met at sognsvann!*

i must admit, its no joke for a farm-girl like me to move to the capital. its not that its big, really, however its red light, green light, aunty tram and uncle subway, stamp tickets here, walk there, get lost in the jungle... shake hands with the development minister, work out with famous norwegians at the gym. mind-expanding lectures... schedules... importance... identity... high heeled women with masks of make up... grønland... kebab... giardia... kaffebrenneriet... busy-busy-busy... and quite lovely!

my lovely friend martine said once, that all she wants is for me to fall in love with oslo. well - martine... many good memories are starting to pile up - i have had some wonderful months here, and my masters is really really great - and i like the sound of the tram, it makes me feel calm :) (when it sighs, not when it screams, mind you). so i guess - just as i start to feel at home, just as i start to love this place.. then i have to pack my bags again... yoh, this life. its quite wonderful in a bitter way!

i just want to share with you some of the moments from "marka" (the forest) a few weekends ago. my friends martine, nicole, christine and I jumped on the subway, and escaped city life with coffee and kvikk lunsj in our bags. lovely!

it warms my heart to hear that oslo is not only "berre drit!". Next time you come to stay you have to settle on the east side of town, it's much more your vibe than the hectic (in the South African sense of the word...) Majorstua. Anyway, you are soon off to beautiful SA where life is hectic in a completely different way! Can't wait to come visit:)
have a beautiful day!
greetings from the library...
